Abstract

Some challenges in radiation protection from the point of view of a small radiation protection society are presented, although some of them are not specific for the small societies. Future cooperation among regional radiation protection societies should be improved by organizing a joint conference. Participation in IRPA activities improves the visibility of small societies, but is associated with high financial costs. Challenges in radiation protection in medicine, in radioecology, as well as in method and instrumentation development are also discussed. Special focus is put on young generation in the field of radiation protection and radiation science. The challenges discussed here are certainly far from forming a complete list, however, they indicate that the radiation protection is a vivid area where young generation can find its professional accomplishment.
