Abstract

This paper presents the results of the first part of the survey of groundwater from Vojvodina region. By measuring the activity concentration of the radioactive isotope tritium (half-life of 12.33 years) one can determine the age of young water. The presence of 3H in groundwater indicates that the system was supplied by waters that are more than 62 years old. It is possible to distinguish the subterranean waters influenced by precipitation in the last sixty years, aquifer waters that do not have such quick water exchange. Beside measured concentrations of tritium activity the ratio of stable isotopes δ2H and δ18O have been also determined.
