Abstract
Decision making in science policy should be based on evidence. Therefore information systems which contain complete and reliable information about scientific activities of a certain community is of great importance. This article discuss the current state of Croatian research information infrastructure, its advantages and disadvantages, and the potential for using its data for research evaluation purposes. Based on the conducted analysis of existing infrastructure and the general requirements of a system which could be usable for evaluation purposes, the general outline of the Croatian Research Information System (CroRIS) will be described.
