Abstract

This Account provides an overview of our group's research in the field of asymmetric organocatalytic transformations generating chiral isoindolinone cores. We describe the synthesis of 3–substituted 3–hydroxyisoindolinones, starting materials for these transformations, comprising a wide range of functional groups, as well as their utilization in asymmetric transformations. We also discuss our efforts in the application of the developed methodology in the synthesis of a known HIV–1 Inhibitor.
