Abstract

Sixty-five Atlantic bluefin tuna Thunnus thynnus from a fish farm (floating cages) in Croatia were examined for plasma biochemistry. Twenty-three parameters were determined (haematocrit, metabolites, proteins/enzymes, electrolytes) and correlations were established within the pairs of variables. Some measured metabolites demonstrated strong mutual correlations, especially GLU (mean 6.9 mmol/l), CHOL (mean 4.1 mmol/l), TRIG (mean 4.9 mmol/l), URE (mean 0.6 mmol/l), TP (mean 54.7 g/l) and CP (mean 49.5 mg/l), which are crucial factors in lipid and cardiac profile of animals.
