Abstract

Silioate Solutions of very low total silicie aoid concentration, B, have been studied at 25°C in an ionic medium of 0.5 M Na(C104) by a coulometric titration technique using a hydrogen eleotrode. The average number of OH~ bound per Si(OH)4, Z, has been varied within the limits 0 < Z <, 0.95 and B, between 0.32 x 10~3 M and 1.32 X IO'3 M. In this range data could be explained with the equilibrium Si(OH)4 ^ SiO(OH)3~ + H+ and with log *flt = —9.46 ± 0.02 (3cr). The calculation has been earried out by using the Computer program Letagropvrid. Table 2 gives a survey of the calculations.
