Abstract
A detailed description of Reddellomyces donkii is given, based both on fresh and dried material supplemented with drawings and photographs. Microscopic study includes morphological, histo- and cyto-chemical data in order to improve diagnostics on familiar, generic and specific levels. Vital taxonomy methods are strongly emphasized. Some newly recorded characters, especially those related to asci, ascogenous system, ascospores and peridium, support the results of previous molecular analyses about affiliation of the genus Reddellomyces to the family Tuberaceae. All treated material is collected in the Mediterranean zone of Northern part of Libya during March and April in 2006 and 2008. Distribution and ecology with species preference to Eucalyptus spp. stands is discussed. The species is recorded as new to Libyan mycobiota.
