Abstract

The selectivity of the B-10 + B-10 reactions in populating different states of neighboring nuclei was studied at beam energies of 50.0 and 72.2 MeV. The peculiar structure of B-10, which can be described as a mixture of shell model and cluster configurations of the type Li-6(gs) + alpha or Li-6(0(2)(+),1) + alpha [1], together with a high spin of the ground state J(pi) = 3(+), enabled the population of various high-spin and high-excitation energy states in nuclei around A = 10. We report and discuss the new and rarely observed states populated in C-12,C-13, N-14, and O-16.
